For the third series in a row, the Marlies found themselves facing elimination, this time in the western conference finals. Down 3-0 to the Wolves, Gilbert finally did what most Leaf fans have been wishing he had done from the beginning, and threw the keys to the Leafs future goaltender.
Not a game too soon.
A 28 save game later, and the Marlies are still in it.
