Let this post serve to identify the deepest point of the off-season trough

Apparently Giggles' new copper-roofed mansion merits the front page of the City section.
A report in the Citizen in June said the house, listed for $6 million, was the most expensive property on the Ottawa market.

The purchase comes after Mr. Spezza, one of the top centres in the National Hockey League, accepted a contract extension last November that will pay him $49 million over seven years and keep him in Senators colours through the 2015-16 season.

Lemme guess, this ran above the front page fold in the print edition. Between this and ferret lady, suffice to say it's been a compelling and rich past few weeks of news gathering over on Baxter Road.

Mark Bell a Free Man

11 weeks of hard labour under the scorching california sun behind him, Mark Bell will report to training camp this September with a clean slate.

55 days. Hard labour. Working along criminals.
Let's hope it leads to more of this delightful behaviour.

McCabe all but a Panther

Or at least this story on TSN says so.

I read earlier there are even more teams interested besides Florida.

I think it's officially safe to say Toronto will not have McCabe on the blue line next year.

TRAITOR!!!

Via Eric McErlain via JP:
Hamilton's Alena Sharp, Canada's top player on the LPGA Tour this year, has a
Toronto Maple Leafs head cover on her driver, but she said today she's willing to chuck it for this week."I was waiting for that one to come up. Last year in Edmonton, I got flack about it...so if someone is willing to bring an Ottawa Senators head cover, I'll put it on my bag for the week. I guess you can put that out in the media."

Wow. Just wow. Your Leafs Nation passport might get revoked.
