I can't think of a better way to end the year than with a 5 game win streak can you? And a their current pace the Leafs are on track for a 101 point season.
They have done this without regulars Lindros, Allison, Andropov , Steen and Colaiacovo. They are 5 points ahead of the Canadiens who have rapidly come back to earth and 11 points ahead of 9th place Atlanta.
Word to the wise in 06: time to stop underrating this team.

I will stick to my prediction.The leafs won't make the playoffs.
ReplyDeleteThe Leafs will make the playoffs. I doubt the Sens will they have to be the worst team in Hockey right now!
ReplyDeleteI give it about 10mins before we get a supposedly pro-Leaf post that slams the Sens for looking godawful today without Hasek or Alfredsson.
ReplyDeleteJust want to say in advance I agree. This week should be a great chance for Murray to get his guys focused on hard work. Benching Spezza and Heatley for cruising through the 1st period was a good start.
When the leafs beat a real team, then start bragging, while picking on bottom feeders such as Pittsburgh and Jersey is good for moral and all, when the Leafs get back to playing top notch clubs, they will come back to earth.

ReplyDeleteNot to mention the fact that the Leafs have outscored Atlanta 14-2 the two times they played each other.
The Sens are a great team... they just don't deal with adversity as well as the Leafs do!
