Its Good to be a Leaf Fan

By The Meatriarchy

When your team is on a winning streak. Your top goalie prospect leads his team to a gold medal. Your other goalie prospect wins the best goaltender of the tournament award....

We know Pogge will be playing in Toronto next season. All that's left to be determined is whether it will be with the Marlies in the American Hockey League or the Leafs in the NHL. In any event, there's little doubt that Pogge has rocketed to the top of the Leafs' prospect list, closely followed by Rask, and will come into camp next season as the most highly touted young player since Wendel Clark in 1985.

And, the Sens let the lowly Bruins kick their ass.

  2. BTW, Quinn apparently flew in to Vancouver to watch his two goalie prospects win their respective finals. He must be drooling over these guys.

Still, it's hard to mine for goaltenders from rookies. That's why teams who want to be contenders pay the big bucks for proven winners like Hasek or Belfour.

    Great job Team Canada!

I never realized that you were that scared about meeting the Leafs in the first round.

But check the standings, you are also helping Philadelphia catch Ottawa for top spot (just 1 point behind now).

  4. The Sens fans will use any excuse to justify a loss. I thinkl the Ottaw Suns story head line blamed it on the fact that Pothier wasn't in the line up?

Just admit it, you lost to Boston. Big deal, you can't win em all. Maybe they just don't want to admit that they are fallable and can't win without they're top line intact.

  5. Whereas the Leafs seem to do better with half of their line-up injured, the Sens are a normal team and actually suffer when three of their top four scorers are injured, as well as 2 or 3 other guys.

  6. I seem to remeber a while ago all you Sens fans saying that if Hasek or Redden get hurt then you'll be fine. No worries, we're the best team all-time. HAHAHA

  7. I predict the Leafs trade away their top goalie prospects for another 35-year old has been.

    Go Calgary!

We did fine with Redden & Havlat out.
We did fine with Havlat & Spezza out.

But when you remove three of our top four scorers (Alfie, Spezza, Havlat) we're forced to play a different game, and it takes time to adapt.

It's not like we're missing one top scorer and a few supporting cast members - we've run into a bit of a mess where 100+ points are out of the lineup.

I'm not particularly worried if we lose a few now - so long as they're all healthy come playoff time.

  9. Regarding Ottawa's recent play, I agree with Andrew above - Redden was out for 10 games was it? and Ottawa's record was not that bad during that stretch. And as a team, it's better to have the adversity now, and work one's way up to peaking in the spring.

But regardindg the goalies, I think Toronto getting Pogge is the perfect setup for future Battle of Ontarios - especially in consideration the Sens picked up Jeff Glass after last year's Juniors. It'll definitely be interesting to see these 2 Junior gold medalists backstopping one of the NHL's greatest rivalries!

Depends on your perspective. The Senators won some games, but generally against .500 or lower teams. You didn't beat very many good teams.

    Vancouver? Loss
    Calgary? Loss
    Dallas? Loss
    Philadelphia? Loss

With 3 guys out you can barely beat the bad teams (Washington) and lose to the middle of the pack teams (Atlanta, Montreal, Boston). To win the Stanley Cup you have to be able to beat any and all teams, injuries or not.

Errr... Im not quite sure what kind of point your trying to make... Both Hasek and Redden are healthy... I dont think you would have caught any of us saying "If Havlat Alfie and Spezza get injured we will be fine" but hey, your the one that doesnt know how to read

  12. And I dunno if people are really busy at work or something, but the only updates to this site in a while have been by the Meatriarchy... it's as if the Sens fans suddenly have a lot less to add to the conversation.
